# Supported File Formats

The following chart shows the file formats that we support when generating [viewable renditions](/en/lr/3815/) or indexing for [full-text search](/en/lr/3569/).

## Notes

  * There are other formats not listed here that _may_ work, but results may vary.
  * Vault does not make any changes to files once uploaded except in cases where the file utilizes a feature such as [Merge Fields](/en/lr/30965/).
  * Vault may fail to render Microsoft 365 files containing macros.
  * Unlike other .docx file extensions, the Microsoft File Format Office Open XML (OOXML) is not searchable. 
  * Vault does not recommend embedding files within Microsoft Word source files. Although Vault may be able to render these in some cases, embedded files violate best practices for validation.
  * Vault may not render multiple-page files with more than 4000 pages.

Vault can create viewable renditions for the following RAW camera file types. This is only supported in PromoMats.
