Vault automatically generates PDF viewable renditions for Microsoft Outlook Mail Message (MSG) and Electronic Mail File (EML) document source files. The renditions feature clickable embedded links and the files support full-text search. The rendition shows the Sent date and time in the GMT time zone.
About Attachment Handling
Vault can treat email attachments in several ways:
- If the email file is a document’s source file and the document type allows attachments, Vault creates a document attachment for each of the email’s attachments.
- If the email file is a document’s source file and the document types does not allow attachments, Vault ignores the email’s attachments.
- If the email file is an attachment on another document, Vault ignores the email’s attachments.
- Once the viewable rendition is generated, you must refresh the Doc Info page to display any included attachments.
When versioning a document by uploading a new source file, Vault compares the document’s existing attachments to the new source file’s email attachments:
- If the email attachment on the new file has the same filename and checksum as the existing document attachment, no changes occur for the existing attachments.
- If the email attachment on the new file has the same filename, but a different checksum, Vault versions the attachment.
- If the email attachment on the new file has a different filename, Vault treats it as a new attachment.
