With the Generate QR Codes feature, PromoMats can generate QR codes for URLs on the Website object. Traditionally, QR codes have been created externally and managed as individual documents, typically stored as separate Component assets. This feature automates generating QR codes and allows the QR code and destination URL to be stored together, allowing for a more seamless experience.

Creating QR Codes

When you create a Website (website__v) object record under Business Admin > Objects, you can select the Generate QR Code checkbox to generate a QR code for the URL associated with the website. Vault then creates the QR code and saves it as an attachment (.SVG file) on the record. You can generate a QR code for any of the Distribution Channel Types available on the Website object, but this functionality is intended for the Webpage, Public Distribution, Privacy Policy, and Unsubscribe Link types.

If you modify the URL field on a Website record or copy the record via the Make a Copy action, Vault removes the existing QR code and generates a new QR code only if the Generate QR Code checkbox is already selected on the source record. If you generate a QR code via a bulk action from the Website record, Vault sends you an email and a notification with a downloadable .CSV file that contains the Website record, a success or failure status, and a failure reason, if applicable.

Enabling QR Codes

Admins can configure QR codes on the Website (website__v) object by provisioning the standard layout and standard layout rules under Admin > Configuration > Objects > Website > Layouts.

Limitations

  • The generated .SVG file for the QR code only allows filenames with characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and periods (.), underscores (_), and dashes (-). Other characters default to underscores (_).

To utilize this feature, users require Edit permission on the URL (url__v) field and Generate QR Code (generate_qr_code__v) checkbox.
